International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare
On 1-3 March 2011, the King’s Fund hosted its first International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare.
This event brought together speakers from around the world who shared their experiences and expertise with an audience comprising 350 delegates from 59 countries. In addition, live streaming enabled participation from a virtual audience of 1500.
Whole System Demonstrator Programme Leads from Cornwall and Kent were in attendance to share insights from the trial, and delegates had the opportunity to visit the Newham WSD pilot site.
Breakout sessions covered a wide range of areas, including the impact of telehealth and telecare on users, carers, health and social care professionals, the cost of care and the cost-effectiveness of care. The evidence base for telehealth and telecare was examined, with presentations on heart failure and diabetes.
Keynotes and case studies from the USA, Canada and The Netherlands, along with sessions from across Europe and further afield, provided a truly international dimension to the Congress.
Presentations and video from the Congress can be viewed via the WSDAN past events webpage.
Early booking is now available for the next International Congress on Telehealth and Telecare, taking place on 6-8 March 2012.
